Bass Fiddle, Vocals, Humor

Steve was born and raised in Evanston, Wyoming and lived there until 1972 when his family moved to Roy, UT.  He swears his only musical background comes from high school band where he played the trumpet and the baritone and he had his own Rock Band while living in Wyoming.  He claims to be an expert at playing the radio or stereo.  It wasn’t until 2001 that he started to play the stand-up bass and that was only because his wife, Terri, gave it to him for “Mother’s Day”.  From that point on, he has proved himself to be quite the bass player and is often asked to accompany different musicians on stage.

Steve has his own award nominations…along with Terri…they were nominated and won the Golden Note Award through the Cowboy Poets of Idaho in 2003.

Steve is the most recognizable member of the group STAMPEDE! sporting an enviable handle-bar mustache which has earned him the nickname, “Longhorn Face”.  His mustache came about when he was a Drum Major for a bagpipe band out of Clearfield, UT.  It is rumored that the neighbors would place bets on who would be wearing the skirt when Steve and Terri left their house.

Steve has a sense of humor that comes naturally when he’s on stage, though he claims to be the strong and silent one of the group.  You never know what to expect from him or when.  His rendition of a chicken is worth catching as Terri does her famed “Chicken Yodel”.

Steve works for the Dept. of the Army as a supervisor in a shop that repairs locomotives and generators and has just a few short years until retirement.

Steve is a member of the Western Music Association where he is currently serving as President of the Association, The Academy of Western Artists, Cowboy Poets of Utah, Cowboy Poets of Idaho and the Cowboy Poets of Wind River.

Steve lives with his wife, Terri, in West Haven, UT where he can often be seen and heard driving around their place on his 1953 Case tractor singing “Green Acres”.
