Guitar & Vocals
David comes from a long line of musicians that includes his Mother who played the piano, his Dad who had his own dance band and David, in his younger days, was involved in musicals, choirs and, believe it or not, his own ROCK BAND! All of this musical background has brought David to his “music comfort zone” of today that includes traditional Western music, Classic Cowboy songs and original compositions.
David, with his deep, rich voice, was awarded the Male Vocalist of the Year in 2002 through the Western Music Association’s Utah Chapter. He is continually nominated for awards for his voice and guitar playing. His deep, rich baritone voice has been known to make female hearts swoon.
David has 3 CD’s to his credit. The first one titled, “Just Me and My Guitar” is just that. Just him and his guitar playing songs that can take you to your favorite spot whether its mountain tops, campfires or your front room. You can close your eyes and he will take you there with his voice. The 2nd CD, titled “’Ridin’ Wild Horses” is “a reflection of his life which has been filled with tremendous experiences in training, riding, showing and racing horses throughout the West”. It also explains the “disease” that he has…horses! The title cut of this CD is one of his originals. His 3rd CD, “Born To Be A Cowboy” is a collection of original songs that he has written entirely or co-wrote with well know Cowboy Poets such as CR Wood, JoLynne Kirkwood, Les Buffham and Sam DeLeeuw. He is joined on this CD by his daughter Amanda on vocals and his brother, Douglas, adds his touch on guitar and mandolin.
David has sung at festivals, fairs and functions of all kinds throughout the West including the Festival of the American West held annually in Wellsville, UT, Utah State Fair, Weber County Fair in Ogden, Lewis and Clark Western Arts Festival in Lewiston, ID and at the Cowboy Poetry and Music Festival held at Gene Autry’s Melody Ranch in Santa Clarita, CA.
In 2002, David joined up with a couple of his friends to form the group STAMPEDE! This group consists of David, Steve Taylor on stand up bass and vocals and Terri Taylor on guitar, vocals and yodeling. This brought a new challenge to David. Who would have ever thought that David wanted to, or could, yodel? But he did and he can! After getting his practice while driving the zamboni at the Ogden Ice Sheet, home of the 2002 Winter Olympic Curling events, he joins in with Terri and adds some great harmony on yodeling!! This group also specializes in 3 part harmony, humor and plain old fun entertainment.
David is member of the Western Music Association, The Academy of Western Artists, Cowboy Poets of Utah and the Cowboy Poets of Idaho.
David is from Harrisville, UT where he lives with his wife, Vicky, and 2 daughters and his back yard is full of horses.
COMMENTS:
OJ SIKES, Western Music Association CD review: “I missed hearing David Anderson sing at the Wichita festival. After listening to his CD, I’m sorry I missed him! It’s outstanding!..If you appreciate a really good baritone voice and a skillfully played guitar, in the person of an experienced cowboy, you’ll want to add this CD to your collection. You will not be disappointed!
Meet
the other members of STAMPEDE!
